Über den Film: Da ich den originalen Film nicht kenne kann ich nicht viel darüber erzählen… der Legofilm an sich ist sehr gelungen. Es handelt von einen Mann, der auf mysteriöser Weise in eine Art Arena entführt wird. In dieser Arena verfolgt ihn eine bewaffnete Gestalt, die versucht ihn zu töten…

“The Beast” – der Legofilm

Dr. Wilson has finally discovered something his has craved for years: a cure for cancer. But after a terrible accident, everything changes. Dr. Wilson’s assistant is dead, and something horrible is on the loose. Only Inspector Bill Gristle and his skilled CSI team can solve the mystery and stop the creature known as the Beast.

This version of Beast is almost nothing like the original concept. I first thought up the idea of Beast in March of 2006. I had just heard about the new movie The Omen, and that it was going to be released on sixth day of sixth month of the sixth year of the new millennium, or 06/06/06. 666 is, of course, the Number of the Beast mentioned in the Book of Revelation. I thought it would be cool to release a quick brickfilm on 06/06/06 with a “beast” theme as a little joke. The original story this: on 06/06/06 a demonic creature rises from hell and the world ends. Original, huh?

The direction of this project quickly changed when the Brickfilms.com “Fame, Infamy and Glory” Contest was announced. I threw out the old story and began a new one. The basic premise was a retelling of the werewolf and Frankenstein stories with a modern twist. I tweaked the story several times to fit more in with the Fame, Infamy and Glory theme required by the contest, and I added the crime scene investigation theme as well. The end result was a massive 15-page script. I began filming the key scenes, but I quickly realised the project was too large and I wouldn’t be able to complete it in time. I cut out two major subplots and half the characters. This left me with a managable film, albeit weakened and watered down. I finished filming, but I was struck with another roadblock when I began editing. Films submitted in the contest had to be ten minutes or shorter. I have over twelve minutes of footage. I grit my teeth and removed every excess shot, and cut words out of sentances to trim the dialogue down. Beast is the result. It’s skeletal and diluted, but it had to be done.

I still have the original script, and all the voices, and I’m not going to reveal anything else, because eventually I’m going to make and release Beast: Director’s Cut. I am not setting a deadline, and I’ll work on it slowly, making each bit the best it can be. It might be released in 2007, it might be even 2008. But I have a feeling it’s going to be a whopping half an hour long. So stay tuned. But don’t hold your breath.

Dieser Legofilm zeigt einen Unfall bei einer DNA Forschung zur Heilung von Krebs. Dr. Wilson kommt mit dem DNA Material in Berührung und mutiert zu einem Beast!… Wie schon der letzte Legofilm, den ich gepostet habe ist dies ein sehr aufwendig animierter Stop Motion Film! Auf jeden Fall sehenswert.

Legofilm “Frankenstein”

My first “long” film, and hopefully not my last! Made over the course of two months, Frankenstein was a “villain” film made for the Heroes and Villains contest at Brickfilms.com, and was voted 1st out of 19 movies.

One of the most exciting things about making this movie was getting very strong reactions from a lot of different people of different ages. I was blown away by some of the positive and very kind reviews.

Because of the “villainous” subject material, however, there were also negative reactions, especially at the live showing. Josh described what happened:

“. . . There were audible gasps during the knife part. As the film progressed, children became visibly upset, as did their parents . . .”

I’m saddened that some people didn’t enjoy my film, but at the same time I’m very happy that my Lego animation was actually “scary,” since it was supposed to be.

I’d like to thank Josh, for running Brickfilms.com, everyone that wrote articles and motivated me with useful information on the forums and everyone who reviewed the film. This place really is unique.

Zu diesem Lego Film kann ich nur sagen: Hut ab! Ein Kompliment an das Legofilm-Team! Die Animation des Stop Motion Films ist extrem flüssig und sehr schön anzusehen! Die Effekte schaffen eine perfekte Filmathmosphäre! Diesen Legofilm müsst ihr euch unbedingt ansehen!
